About Cardinal Flower

The Cardinal Flower is a bright scarlet-colored flower related to the Bluebell. Blooming from July to October, it thrives well in wet, marshy areas and is very shade tolerant. This perennial can take up to 2 years to bloom. Known for its showy, bright flowers, this perennial would grow well near wetlands or in a garden with mulch to retain moisture and other plants to provide shade. It can grow from 2-6' feet in height, usually averaging at about 4'.

It is suggested to start seeds in plug(cell) trays that can be transferred to an outside location once they have developed at least two true leaves.
