About Winter Pea

Winter peas are similar to forage peas, but can overwinter if temperatures remain mild. They are an excellent crop for nitogen fixation and work best in clay soils and alluvial bottoms.  Keep seeding rates lower with smaller seeds and on the upper end with larger seeds.  Winter forage peas provide a high protein forage and are a good seeding companion with cereals when grown for forage.

It is recommended to plant 1-2 inches deep .  Blooms are a good early source of nectar for honeybees.
