Hard Fescue
Festuca longifolia
Cool season bunch grass for shade or high altitude
About Hard Fescue
Hard Fescue is a cool season bunch grass that has some shade tolerance. This perennial is considered a fine fescue and grows shorter than tall fescue. It is often used in shade mixes and as a cover crop for native grasses and forbs and does well in good soil and in central and northern latitudes. More drought tolerant than sod-forming cool season grasses and works well in erosion control mixtures.
Plant in spring or fall.
